  1. I took Kratom a few years ago to get off oxytocin. The withdrawals was what kept me on them. Kratom worked for me. Haven’t taken any kratom for a couple years but thinking of doing it again for a short time due to depression from working at home and being isolated. When I stopped the kratom I had no withdrawals. Only a little tired for a day but could still go to work. No sweats or pain. No laying in bed for days or weeks. Its a hard habit to break. Good luck to you.

      1. I’ve been on norco for 8 years. I want to get off but I dont want to use suboxone or methadone because you can get addicted to it too. How do I purchase Kratom? I only want to use a small amount for a few days then make the jump.

    1. It can be hard. My experience is tapering slowly is best. Some people are more sensitive to opioid withdrawal in general. Sidenote: Kratom contains the opioids mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine. So despite what some say, Kratom contains opioids because these compounds bind opioid receptors and this is the definition of an opioid. If you’re at 6 g per day, for example, you could cut down by .2-.4 g per day, or what ever allows you to make progress without being in too much discomfort.

      Some people seek professional help for Kratom dependence and suboxone can be prescribed for this like other opioid addictions. Personally, I think suboxone can be harder to kick than Kratom due to the long drawn out detox of suboxone, but I’d consult a doctor.

  2. I’m on 30mgs of morphine a day and 8mg of dilaudid. I am wanting to get off of those so kratom was recommended for my pain after I suffered 2 strokes. Which strains would you recommend and how much should I take?

    1. For pain relief I am a fan of Bali. It’s good to use at night also for relaxing. White Maeng Da is my daytime go to. I’m a nurse so while I am definitely no expert on Kratom I would definitely say do some intense research for replacing meds that strong. I’ve read the red strains can be excellent for easing withdrawals as well as keeping pain at bay. Best of luck to you my friend!

    2. Red is best for pain. Just remember less is more with Kratom. Start small and find what works for you, experiment a bit!

  3. I take 7.7 grams of green maeng da for adderall alternative. I also have gold Bali powder and green Borneo works well too. However it gets expensive but it’s well worth it. I’m also 6’5” 200 pounds. But I really haven’t found my ideal dose to deal with similar adderall effects. Tony have any ideas?

  4. Everyone seems to be taking it for addiction. I’m taking it as an alternative to adderall. Seems to work similiar adderall minus the many side effects of adderall. Although, i heard you can get addicted to kratom. I only take about 2:4 grams a dose and maybe redose every 4:6 hours depending my work load. Never felt like I needed it. Kratom feels more of a cup of coffee than a drug to me.

    1. Hello, first time every posting anything like this, but I have been reading everyone’s post and most are very up lifting. I just started taking Kratom today from a reputable source locally (thank God it’s not illegal in Ohio yet) and I was wondering on the dosage. I am trying to get off street drugs and I wanted to quit cold turkey. Well after about 24 hours I knew I couldn’t do it alone. My amazing wife and I looked into Kratom together and I picked up a red strain. I have read on here that it may not help that much do to the fact that the opiates I was taking were stronger than the Kratom. My main issue is dealing with the withdrawals is why I have failed at quitting before. I was only taking a small amount of fentanyl a day. Not even enough to show up on a drug screen, but still the withdrawal symptoms are horrible for me. So I guess my question is one, how much should I be taking? They very nice guy at the store suggested 5 teaspoons to start out with. Second, will it even help me this early into me trying to quit drugs? I did the recommended amount and felt nothing so I took another 3 teaspoons and still this withdrawal is kicking my ass! Thanks for any advice and I will say everyone keep being strong and stay healthy, body and mind!

        I believe your best bet is to get a scale to weigh it out in grams. Average dose is 5 grams. Take 5 grams of Kratom, and wwith in hour and half how do you feel. If needed dose another 5 grams. Wait another hour and half. Repeat a third time. 5 grams. At this rate you have 15 G of Kratom in your system in about four and a half hours. If that is well tolerated potentially could take 15 G of Kratom at one shot. That dosage ideal is to ramp up the amount of Kratom in your system and how well you are tolerating it in the time frame in which you do all three doses you will have a total of 15 G of Kratom in you. Once again if that is well tolerated pretty much should equate to the fact that you could take up to 15 grams. Although the five doesn’t work used 8 grams. And repeat the dosage steps every hour and a half in relation to how you feel. Once you’ve done the 5 gram step and you’ve done the eight gram step. Go with the total of 10 grams every hour and a half depending on how you feel. Make notes and comments of time frames and exact grams of ingestion as you trying to figure out what works for you best.           Anytime you in just a mine mood-altering substance your body has to filter it out the higher the dosage understand your kidneys and liver are working harder to filter out of the body. You could always take more start with the low dose and work your way up over several days experiment on how you feel be mindful and safe with the way in which you use kratom. For sure it has the potential to have dangerous repercussions if used carelessly. So if you’re going to self administer medication do it as if you were a doctor and take a lot of notes for dosage timeframe how you feel anything out of the ordinary the good the bad about. You are basically your own lab rat be careful

        I did the red Maeng Da powder to get through withdrawals which were kicking my butt from opiates, absolute worst and know that it will get better! Anyway, I survived only because of the Kratom powder which I mixed with a small cup of hot water to dissolve and then added in orange juice to take some edge off but still had to chase with juice after each gulp. The powder in water/juice on an empty stomach – you will start getting relief from nausea and anxiety in 10-15 minutes tops. I would just talk to myself and count through the yucky feeling while gulping it down and usually felt better even before finishing. The pills are ok but take a little longer to kick in, at least for me. I started with 2 heaping teaspoons of powder and then would take another dose if still felt bad. It’s doesn’t completely eliminate your symptoms, it makes them tolerable to persevere until you are through the rough patch and function (though you could also be luckier than me). I just want to be honest about that so you keep your head up and know that some discomfort doesn’t mean it’s not worth it to keep moving forward – worst days for me are days 5-7. Opiate withdrawals are so hard and know you’re not alone. What’s worse with opiates, even the meds they give you to get clean also cause withdrawal when you stop them so really isn’t a magic cure but the Kratom was definitely a lifesaver for me this time around!

      3. You need to be sure you’re taking the right strain of Kratom. Green Maeng Da has always been my go to. U wanna start off with 2-4 grams and then give it 2 hours and take 2 more grams. I take 2 every cpl hours. They have different strains to help different things. Start there. It will help you. I promise

      4. First, kudos to you for getting into recovery! I’m in recovery myself for alcohol. Red strains will help with the withdrawals the most I’ve heard. I take white strains for adhd and now I very rarely fill my adderall script. So, I’m a nurse, and I can explain why fentanyl isn’t showing up on your screen. Fentanyl has to be specifically screened for because it’s a synthetic drug. Believe me, if you’re having withdrawals it’s there. It’s just not being tested for. Anyway, I’ve read the red strains are top notch for opiate withdrawals. There’s also a “train wreck” blend THATS stronger. But if you’re getting good quality Kratom that shouldn’t matter.         I’ve been in your spot before, and trust me that Kratom actually works. I was worst than you by the way, and with Kratom i slept good with no type of withdrawal, try it. The red one is great for withdrawals, anxiety, etc….the green Kratom is for the pain and it gets you on a good mood (makes you very talkative also) But go for it man, you will not regret it.

    2. Right! I replaced adderall and use the white maeng da. I’m a surgical nurse and it keeps me very focused and gives me a little energy from going off the adderall. I thought I’d be stuck on adderall forever. I only took it when I worked but it was still annoying. It’s been a godsend for me.

      First of pat yourself on the back for taking the step in the right direction by getting off your drug of choice! It’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever do,but you’re doing it! I’ve taken Kratom since 2015. I used it to come off of 70 mg of methadone. I was at 105 and tapered til I got to 70 and said bump this! So I did tons of research and took the plunge! I swear the only thing I noticed was minor sweats and chills. MINOR! I take Xanax so that did help I’m sure but I also stayed busy. Even if it was just watching TV. It took my mind off the psychological withdrawal, which is a LOT of it!

      It’s suggested that you start with 3-5 grams 3-4x a day to see how you do. If the amount you take doesn’t seem to work increase in 1 gram increments every hour until you do feel better. Not everyone gets 100% relief. Keep this in mind. Even if you get 70-80% relief it beats the heck out of 0! Try not to focus on how you feel. Your mind is VERY powerful! And it WILL play tricks on you!
      As far as which strain, theoretically any should work as they all have the same two main components, however, I would steer clear of white anything as it could potentially cause anxiety which you don’t want for obvious reasons. Green is a great daytime strain. Red usually for evening although some red maeng da can be energetic.
      Gas station or smoke shop Kratom is usually NOT your best option because 1)it’s very expensive 2)it isn’t usually as strong. Not always #2. But in a pinch it’ll do. Stay away from extracts unless you want another habit and capsules are also expensive, you need to take way too many, and they take longer to work and aren’t as effective.
      Kratom is an amazing substance if used properly and responsibly for withdrawal, depression, anxiety,pain, weight control, and a host of other things but be smart and RESEARCH!! Don’t take anybody’s word for it!

  5. Just took my first dosage of Kratom tonight, and it’s my first night without heroin. I did so much research before driving to TN to get the Kratom. So hopefully with this and the right attitude I’ll beat my addiction in the next few weeks. I’ve had many friends tell me that Kratom is the way to go for withdrawals and so far with just this one dose I’m not aching like I typically would be.

    1. Stay strong. Do research on what the best strains and dosage is. There are a lot of great sites out there and vendors. Also Facebook groups as well. U just need to find ur dose. It’s going to be trial and error. Less is more. Try and break up ur doses thru the day. That’s what I do. And finding a good online vendor helps becuz I started on the gas station kratom capsules and now I toss and wash. Best method for me. Good luck

  7. I wanted to let you guys know a trick I’ve learned that makes kratom consumption a lot easier and work better. I take my dose, which is about a tablespoon and a half or so, and mix it with lime juice. I heard lemon juice works as well. Then I mix in some water and freeze it. The freezing along with the acid releases the alkaloids from the Kratom and allows your body to process them quicker. I’ve found the easiest way to do this is in a water bottle. Just mix the powder with lime juice and some water, shake it good and put it in the freezer. Once it’s frozen just put some hot water in there and shake it up and drink it. It’s way easier to drink that than any other method I’ve found, and it works quick. I’ve used Kratom to get off of hard opiates, H, etc and it is a lifesaver. I recently relapsed after a year and a half clean and went on a 10 day mini bender. I’m terrified of going back and the Kratom has been working. I’ll pray for all of us.
