Kratom Tea Preparation Instructions

Kratom TeaWhile many people like the “toss and wash” method of kratom consumption, making it into a tea is a much more pleasant experience for many. The taste can be pretty bitter, but with the right preparation it’s comparable to an extremely potent green tea flavor.

Start by measuring out between 1 teaspoon of powdered leaf. Using an extract is not recommended, as the hot water may break down some of the alkaloids, there’s no added benefit, and it’s more expensive. Boil 2-4 cups of water. The more water you use, the less strong the flavor, but as long as you drink it all the effects will be exactly the same.

Put the kratom powder into a large cup or container with a pour lip, and pour the boiling water on top. Stir until it is thoroughly mixed. Be sure there aren’t any clumps of dry powder. I highly recommend adding sugar, artificial sweeter, or honey (honey works the best to cut the bitterness), and stir. If using artificial sweetener, 2 packets is a good starting amount. Let sit until cool (at least 15 minutes), stirring occasionally.

Once cooled, allow the powder to settle to the bottom. Pour the tea into a drinking cup, and enjoy! At this point you can add more sweetener to taste, or add water or ice cubes to dilute the flavor. As long as you drink all of the liquid, the effects will be the same.

  1. I’ve been popping pain killers Adderall for over 5 years and when I just got tired of it I did my research and came across kratom omg when I say it helped me with withdrawal ease take my word it did im so grateful to come across it

  2. Stir up about a third of a Dixie cup in water and down .chase with water and food first thing in a.m.with white and before night night with red. Doesn’t take long to get used to what seems quite nasty at first . As an addict and chronic pain patient Kratom has made my life 100% better! Please contact politicians because right now some rich idiot is on a mission to have it outlawed everywhere by2023!

  3. Big Tip as a Thai using powder you can find in smart shops (Amsterdam). In Thailand we always make the tea fresh with leaves, then we cool it and mix a little cough syrup into to sweeten it. However since I am not so eager to use cough syrup I can suggest to find some lingonberry syrup or any berry syrup. Basically I just boil some water, add the powder to cup around 2.5g per cup. Add the syrup and mix while pouring in the hot water. This was actually very drinkable and if not sweet enough just add a little more!

  4. Kratom is a sort of cure all when you learn the right dose and what is perfect for you. Yes, it is addictive. So is coffee, Pepsi, cigarettes, etc. It certainly beats the heck out of using smack, sickly sweet subs, or methadone. Give yourself a break from all the chemicals and take a spoon. It will have you doing pushups. God man! Nature beats a lab any day of the week.

  5. I saw a lot of comments about weening from other opioid. I started on pain killer then heroin for about 2 years then methadone (maintenance clinic) for 5 years. In my opinion ( just an opinion btw), if you currently have an opioid addiction/dependence you should join a methadone/suboxone clinic; I recommend methadone. If you think you can control your taper on your own you are very likely mistaken. I got to my stable dose after a few months of methadone(80mg per day). After about 2 years I began a taper which was -10% of dose every week then -10% every two weeks once below 20mg. It takes a long time but it’s worth it as there are almost no withdrawals until the end and by then it’s manageable. Switching to Kratom is just one addiction to another. Kratom is also very expensive whereas clinic accept most insurance. Kratom is great for reducing occasional cravings post completion of opioid maintenance. Currently I find my self using Kratom too often but the withdraw is very light and and a normal dose of Imodium will subside any withdrawals. Kratom is great for curbing OCCASIONAL cravings but should be used in moderation with self control.

    1. Kratom is extremely cheap you can get a kilo for under $100.. not sure where you are getting your Kratom from but Kratom would be worlds better than methadone or suboxone…

    2. Its not impossible to stop its just hard

I tried that. Was on 160mg. Of methadone a day, went out of town for work got stuck in a snow storm for a few days and kicked out of the clinic. The withdrawlss were 100x times worse than the pills and occasional heroin I used. I eventually got into a sub clinic where they gave me a month supply at a time…. The taste of subs strips were so horrible they would make me.throw up sometimes… So it was easy to wean myself off of them… I called the clinic because I noticed it had been awhile since i last went… Turned out I hadn’t been to the sub clinic in 2months… Haha but still had like 6 strips… They said they would take me back but i declined finished up those 6 strips over the course of a month then stopped felt a little bad for a few days havnt looked back

  6. Hi Guys!
I’m new to Kratom. I have one basic quick question–How many teaspoons of Red Bali Crushed Leaf Kratom per cup of Water should I use in making Tea? I was using 1 teaspoon per cup of water in my Coffee Maker. Bitter as Hell, but some honey & French Vanilla Creamer made it palatable. However, if I have the mix correct, 1 per 1, then how many cups of the Tea do I have to drink??? I do NOT want to drink too much, but I am using the tea to help manage my chronic neck and back PAIN!
Thanks In Advance For Your Help Guys & Gals!

    1. Anyone that thinks that a strongly physically addictive chemical is a wiser idea than a one hundred percent natural plant is likely mistaken in my book. Of course kratom is slightly addictive. Anyone that has dabbled in opiates and is using kratom likely has an addictive personality anyway. But I have found kratom to be cheap, the withdrawals light, and the taper extraordinarily easy. That’s me. But I suspect that this is the likely the norm. I have friends that stop regularly and he also says it’s not that deep at all. I am about 3 teaspoons a day for two years.

  7. Yes. Taper by slowly decreasing opoids while the kratom will keep withdrawl symptoms at bay. Once you stop the opoids completely start tapering down the kratom. It can be addictive too though not nearly as bad as opiates.

  8. Make a tea. Don’t eat this fowl tasting powder. I use hot water out of my tap so it’s not hot enough to damage chemicals we need but it releases sufficient amounts of the happiness from the powder. I then use a filter that’s cloth and I got it from a Chinese supermarket. So I stir the powder in the hot water off and on for 15 mins then I pour the mix thru the filter and squeeze the filter and powder to get the last drops.
I get the effects expected for energy, euphoria and pain management. I’ve been doing this as a supplement to an opioid pain management program and it’s allowed me to stay on the same opiate doses for 4 years now. My kratom need s have increased….I’ll make the tea with 25 grams these days. Could not imagine eating that much powder though. I wind up with a nasty tasting 12 onuce or so glass that I hit with four sweet n lows to make it drinkable. Works for me. I’ve found a good seler on line that tests each batch. And visits the farms he buys from periodically so I feel I got the best defense I’m going to get from someone cutting it with fentynal or from poisons etc. That’s it and all I want from my pain management is the be made as comfortable as possible for as long as possible.

    1. So you are on a MAT and take kratom? I am on 160mg of methadone, have been on that for over a year, and want to try kratom. Would there be any use for it for me?

      1. I was ok 80 mg of methadone for 3 years. Got sick of the side effects. Especially the sweating. I weened down on the methadone by cutting does by 50% every 3 days. 80 – 40 – 20 – 10 – 5 – 2.5 — At 2.5 I stopped. I was tired and felt depressed but no bad withdrawls for a month or so. I still wasn’t happy so I tried Kratom and I have zero craving for opiates now.

      2. I got off of 40mg methadone per day over a 2 week period and just stopped the methadone. Yes pain went up as I did t take it for addiction. Heroin addicts I have met used kratom as well to stop withdrawals. This is what I did and after 8 mos it now helps with pain. I take about 8 000 capsules per day but using a keurig will do the BEST as one can simply add real tea to it and sugar. Voise!

      3. Yes. Taper by slowly decreasing opoids while the kratom will keep withdrawl symptoms at bay. Once you stop the opoids completely start tapering down the kratom. It can be addictive too though not nearly as bad as opiates.

      4. Methadone is strong. I think it would be best to switch to suboxone first (if possible), then taper down off of the suboxone and then start kratom. That’s what I’m doing and its working great!

  9. I just started red kratom yesterday and felt relief ( have crohns disease and some knee pain ). Also is helping me cut down smoking cigarettes and gives energy and helps focus. Thought it was mumbo jumbo but just dont take to much or too often if you have an addictive personality. Have seen people who abused it just like anything else can be abused and the side effects gave them headaches

    1. Im a hefty boy who started jogging again at 300 lbs. To compensate for the massive impact and wear on my legs i took white buntok or borneo before my run so i would forget i had legs. Now im 260 and trail running like i was in the air force again. Stick with it responsibly and it manages all kinds of pain pretty well it seems.

  10. Guys easiest and very effective way of doing….just use a tea maker…or coffee maker if you don’t have one….same thing basically. I run the water through mine twice… Instant effect, easy cleanup… You’re welcome!

      1. YES!! I used to take 4 ibuprofen liquigels 3 or 4 times a day & I had gastric bypass so not supposed to take nsaids at all. I would take 4 of them before I even got out of bed because of my spine. Now, I use kratom – I’ve been using the capsules but it’s getting pretty expensive. I ended up here because I’m thinking making tea might be easier for me. Most days, I don’t even have to take any ibuprofen.

        1. Just buy a “00” capsule maker and a bag of “00” capsules 1000ct for like $15!? Capsule maker between $20-$25 all for sale on line, that means unlimited capsules 24ct at a time and takes maybe 10min, thats what I do anyway!? Good luck🙂!!!!

      1. Red Horned does nothing for my pain. Everything else from the same order has worked great. I still have others to try, but haven’t found “the one” yet for after shoulder surgery pain

        1. Try red indo, red bornio, or red Thai, I take white maeng da which isn’t in the same realm as red’s, but if you need energy and focus as I do to help cope with my A.D.H.D. its white JONG KONG, HULU KAPUAS, OR MAENG DA!!!! Good luck🙂!!!!
