Kratom Strains And Effects

Updated Nov 11, 2021
Written By: Mark Andrews

Countless people across the world are learning about kratom in 2020. With so many strains, its important to understand which strain is right for you. Unlike synthetic opioids, kratom’s chemical composition is complex, and the effects of this composition are dynamic.

Its main alkaloids are mitragynine, paynanthine, speciociliatine, and the more minor 7-hydroxymitragynine (7-HMG). Kratom’s neurochemical complexity is echoed in its physiological effects.

It is generally understood that at low doses (< 1 gram), kratom “can boost energy and enhance mood,” whereas at higher doses kratom is sedating, and may have anxiolytic qualities.

The following table serves as a comparative base for some of the most popular strains of kratom on the market.

BaliAn ideal balance of pain relief and energy boost. Bali works somewhat differently than a traditional red kratom. Bali helps achieve a gentle energy boost while maintaining the pain relief expected of a red. Euphoric and the most classic opiate like among the strains of kratom.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Maeng DaEnergizing and stimulating with pain killing effects. Maeng Da takes the normal pain relieving properties of a red strain and adds a nice energetic kick because of it’s specific alkaloid properties.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Red BaliSimilar to Bali with some red characteristics. This is a known as a versatile strain.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Red Vein ThaiSimilar to Bali with a more classic red strain effects.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Red Vein KaliSedating and more classically opiate like. Red Kali is a more traditional red kratom offering pain relief & relaxation.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Red IndoSimilar to Red Kali and many other traditional strains. Red Indo is a more tame red vein strain and is often touted as ideal for mild pain relief and relaxation.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Green IndoBalances pain relief and energy boosting qualities. The combination of alkaloids in Green Indo creates a longer lasting milder effect although there is not as high of a concentration of alkaloids as SGM.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Green MalayThis original variety of Malaysian Kratom is well known for its mood-lifting, energizing effects.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Green Vein KaliA stimulating strain which also has painkilling attributes. Green Kali delivers a strong boost of energy without sacrificing any of the sought after pain relief effects. It is know for have a higher potency than Green Indo.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
White Vein KaliMore euphoric or dissociating. White Vein Kali is a milder white strain known for its energizing qualities – when compared to Red Vein Kali – while still containing notable pain relief qualities. .1/2 – 3 teaspoons
White Vein ThaiWhite Thai may be the most stimulating of all white strains. There are however less pain relieving attributes than a red vein strain or a strain similar to Bali as a trade off.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
White Vein IndoSimilar to Red Indo which is best known for its pain relief attributes. However White Vein Indo differs from the calming Red Indo by bringing a euphoric dissociative kick with it.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
White BorneoKnown as a uniquely high quality white strain of kratom. It has known for its long lasting, energizing effect.1/2 – 3 teaspoons
Super Green MalaysianKnown for its unique ability to combine the characteristic pain relieving properties of a red strain with the energy and euphoria boost of a white strain. SGM also has some of the longest lasting effects of any kratom with smooth delivery due to the high concentration of alkaloids.1/2 – 3 teaspoons

  1. I take Kratom off and on for chronic pain. I mix it with Corydalis which helps nerve pain. That way I don’t need to take as much Kratom. I find the Red Vein to be good for pain, though the Green Maeng Da sedates me more. Either works for me so I can sleep when the pain is bothering me. I don’t take Kratom daily so that I don’t become dependent. I was on high dose opioids for years. Methadone and dilaudid are both effective painkillers, but the withdrawals when I decided I didn’t want to take them anymore was rather nasty, that’s putting it mildly, it almost killed me. Cold turkey off methadone is supposed to be done gradually in a hospital I learned after the fact. Have had complications since, but it got better. The worst aftereffect is severe anxiety. It was during the withdrawals that I learned about Kratom, which I used to help ease withdrawals and did not become dependent on Kratom neither. I still have pain, but I tolerate it and find sufficient relief with over the counter meds, Corydalis and Kratom.

  2. I commented on a lot of reply’s until I saw I could post lol. I have had lower back pain and severe leg pain since a surgery caused nerve damage. I took norco and had to keep increasing it to get pain relief and of course they don’t want you on it long. I searched the internet high and low and found some information on Kratom. I have had to experience with capsules and powder and many different strains and I still do to see which ones work the best for everything. I take medication for severe anxiety and depression. I know I sound like a total mess but Kratom has turned things around for me. It gives me amazing pain relief and sometimes you have to start at a higher dose if you are taking a lot of opiates (do not combine at same time) my friend used Kratom when her norco runs out prior to referral and it helps a lot. When I take capsules I have to take around 8-10 per dose which is a lot of capsules. I prefer the powder. It’s cheaper and works faster. I take about 1 1/2 to 2 teaspoons per dose. I mix it in a small amount of any juice (orange juice works best I have heard) then I swallow it and follow with a few more gulps of orange juice. It tastes bad but I am used to it. I have tried many strains and different vendors. You can find it at some smoke shops and I have even found it at a few gas stations but they are ridiculously expensive and ineffective to me. I prefer ordering the powder online. I think that green Maeng da has the best pain relief of all of them (just my experience). If I take that in the evening it doesn’t allow me to sleep well. Red indo seems to be more relaxing with a good amount of pain relief for night. I take one teaspoon an hour before bed. I was having the feelings of withdrawal’s every four hours with a Norco will wear off. I hated that feeling and I felt like I was a slave to the medicine. Kratom gives you a much smoother transition between doses. You gently feel when you may need some more. This website has great information on each strain. I would search read it and I got such inconsistent information, it was very confusing and frustrating. I feel like I can live my life without pain and without worrying about a prescription running out. I also can taper it down to barely any and then quite which I did before I got my nerve damage from a surgery. Make sure you drink plenty of water and maybe take a natural supplement to help with constipation. To me that has been the only drawback but it is definitely worth it. Please email me if you have any questions. I know all the shame and pain that is associated with opiates or pain killers. I never even took my first Norco until I was 40 and had a surgery. Kratom has given me freedom. My email is [email protected]

    1. Thank you for sharing your experience. I appreciate how open you were and how much you use. I’m using the maeng da and find it’s the best for my sciatica. I also buy in bulk in powder form to save money. Thank you again, take care

      1. SCIATICA RELIEF Sciatic nerve pain occurs when there’s pressure on a nerve in your lower back. Most people don’t know they can make it go away within a MERE 30 SECONDS. I read this in a booklet in my chiropractor’s office around 1980. We simply need to STRETCH the area that’s being pinched. Here’s how:

IF YOU’RE IN PUBLIC Suppose you’re shopping in a grocery store when your shooting sciatic pain strikes. What I did was use the old-fashioned “windmill” stretch we did in elementary school. First I notice which leg has pain running down it, then use the OPPOSITE HAND to reach over diagonally and touch the knee of the aching leg. That’s it!!! Just hold that stretch (or, if you can, move your hand even further down that leg – as far if as the ankle, if you can, but NOT if it causes any further pain) for 30 seconds. I’ve succeeded in helping myself probably 100 times that way, and only 2-3x over the decades did it ever fail. Possibly doing this corrective stretch so often over the years is what caused the sciatic pain to gradually become sharp, then less often, then disappear entirely.

IF YOU’RE AT HOME If it’s hurting extra bad, and you have the luxury of being at home, you can do something else to relieve the pinched sciatic nerve: Lie face up on a bed or on the floor. Stretch the leg that hurts as far as you comfortably can while slowly cross it over the good leg. Try to make the painful leg stretch even farther/longer than the good leg to stretch out the pinched area. You might even hear it pop, but keep holding the stretch for 30 seconds to help it STAY fixed. EVEN BETTER: If you have the luxury of another person around who’s willing to help, you can relax your muscles much better if you don’t have to do the work. Let the other person stand beyond your feet and SLOWLY, GENTLY & FIRMLY pull on the hurting leg as they cross it over the good leg. Ask them to gradually pull it out past the length of the good leg, and then hold it in place for a good minute. The leg should not be jerked roughly (we are not chiropractors) and, in my experience, if done right should NEVER add to the person’s suffering. A hot bath in magnesium/Epsom salts plus a cup of muscle-relaxing/pain-relieving red-veined kratom afterward will likely help your back muscles their best chance to relax and enable the treatment to last much longer.

Once I had the privilege of using that last method on my own pain management doctor after she told me during my appointment, “I help people with THEIR pain all day long, but there’s no one to help me with MINE!” When I assured her I could help with that sciatic pain, she dashed over to my house after work. She was stunned at how easy the temporary solution was, and that it brought COMPLETE relief within 1 minute. Now she has informed her office-manager husband how to help her at anytime, for free lifelong help : )

        1. ERROR CORRECTION “Oops! I left out the word “LESS” in a comment about relieving sciatic pain. The last sentence of the 3rd paragraph should actually have read: “Possibly doing this corrective stretch so often over the years is what caused the sciatic pain to gradually become LESS sharp, then less often, then disappear entirely.”

    2. You mentioned that kratom tasted bad. I’ve solved my own problem of how to get past the STRONG, UNPLEASANT TASTE of red-veined kratom strains (due to their pain-relieving opioid alkaloid content, since most natural opiates – like codeine & heroin – taste quite bitter). I discovered this quite by accident after nearly 3 years of appreciating its effects very much but nevertheless dreading my cup of kratom tea (a mere level teaspoon of it in a cup of hot water w/sweetener relieved my neck & back injuries PLUS relieved my Severe Complex PTSD anxiety PLUS relieved my tendency to be depressed. I no longer need Prozac, Valium, or the codeine I was using!!! (either pure codeine phospate or pure codeine sulfate, neither of which tiny prescription tablets contained any additives like liver-wrecking acetaminophen nor kidney-wrecking ibuprofen, I’m thankful to report).
Well, here’s how I accidentally solved the problem of how awful the stronger pain-relieving strains of kratom taste: One day a few months ago I was dashing out to get to my deep muscle therapy for neck & back injuries, when I suddenly realized I’d forgotten to take my double-dose of kratom 30-60 minutes in advance so the therapist could work deeply without my having sharp pains (I doubled my usual dose once/week just for those appointments – from 1 level teaspoon to 2 level teaspoons). There was no time to heat the water for the tea, nor time to cool it and drink it all. So, I grabbed a carton of cold milk out of desperation, poured a cup of it in a glass jar with 1.5 teaspoons of honey, and shook it well. WOW!! It was very different – and almost as delicious as chocolate milk! Now, I actually look forward to drinking my very delicious KRATOM MILK, and it’s the ONLY way I take it anymore – no more yukky hot tea with it!!!
Recently, I’ve had to start watching my sugar levels, so instead of honey stevia (but NOT that white granulated stuff with added corn/wheat glucose-based erythritol, dextrose & who-knows-else; nor do I use any artificial sweeteners). Only 1/8 tsp of that natural green stevia leaf powder is needed to sweeten the kratom nicely. Yes, really just 1/8th teaspoon or less (that natural type of green powdered stevia leaf can be found online or in some healthfood stores, but not in any grocery stores I’ve seen, by the way).

How happy I am over all this – the kratom being muscle relaxing, plus anti-inflammatory for joints (wonderful!!), plus anti-depressant, plus energizing & wanting to work (if don’t take too much, which makes me sleepy very soon afterward), plus astoundingly anti-anxiety – all at the same time!! I’m very, very thankful – and no addiction problems. And I’m extra delighted to have discovered how putting it in mildly sweetened milk [of course, milk itself also adds a natural sugar – about 8 grams of lactose] will make it DELICIOUS instead of dreadfully bitter! I sure hope someone can benefit by what I’ve said.
One bit of advice: Just as with Rx opiates, it is wise not to let your body DEPEND on taking it at the same time(s) every day. DO WITHOUT WHENEVER YOU CAN – EVEN FOR AN EXTRA HOUR. And CHANGE UP the hour that you take it. Skip a dose (or a day) entirely whenever you can, and skip 1-3 days (or just take less) at the end of each month, if possible, so the tolerance doesn’t set in which requires more & more. Because I wrote a Drug & Alcohol 6-month Education Program, I learned a lot about how dependence occurs. By applying the principles I just gave you, I myself have been able to remain on my 1-level-teaspoon dose of kratom (using various strains) for nearly 3 years!!!! Can you believe it?!? Yes, it’s really TRUE. And quitting for a day or two has only left me slightly uncomfortable and experiencing just the ORIGINAL pain from my injuries & my ORIGINAL anxiety during that day or two – but NO WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS AT ALL. Please consider what I’ve said. DON’T make a regular HABIT of taking the same amount at the same time every single day. DON’T teach your body to DEPEND on it like clockwork – that’s when habits & dependence set in. Got it? Simple, really. This will be your reward: After you skip even a day or so, it will get its old zing/potency back. I learned a lesson the hard way: As long as I skipped a day (every other is BEST of all!!!), the kratom lasted 48 wonderful hours (not 4, like codeine, but 48!!!), yet as soon as I began taking every day, it would last only 1 day. And further, if I took it 2x/day, it lasted only 1/2 day. Interesting, huh?
So, don’t spoil yourself. And never, EVER take kratom to get high (or to raise its slight, lovely, natural euphoric effects just for kicks), since that can mess with your brain’s “pleasure center” [scientific name: nucleus accumbens] and cause you to want more & more. With heroin users, for example, the ordinary pleasures of life soon can’t compete with the massive release of dopamine, so they wreck their lives & relationships because job satisfaction, playing sports for fun & exercise, having a safe & warm home, and even sexual relations bring them so little pleasure in comparison with the heroin that they aren’t interested in them & lose everything that once mattered. Thankfully, I’ve never known, heard of, or read about anyone who has a serious kratom habit (the handful of deaths were known to be heavy street drug users, and the fault wasn’t their kratom use), but why should folks risk ruining our access to this wonderful wholefood source of relief (for multiple health & psychological issues, such as I have) by behaving or even talking about kratom in such a way (including on certain disgraceful kratom seller sites) that we possibly contribute its being made illegal someday, leaving us dependent only on Big Pharma’s poisonous drugs with a zillion side effects?
Besides, taking more kratom than we need is usually a waste, anyway. Many people, myself included, have reported that the euphoria stops dead and you tend to go right to sleep when you take even 1/2 teaspoon more than you need. My guess is, that happens because the brain might be protecting itself against excess dopamine release, since our neurotransmitters should be in balance. (Just as excess serotonin from taking too much of even the wonderful anti-depressant supplement, L-tryptophan, can lead to “serotonin poisoning” in the brain, which I’ve seen happen in a friend of mine – the symptoms were scary, with darting eyes, very fast movements, and a personality change after using way too much L-tryptophan along with her anti-depressant Rx’s.)
Kratom can be used for withdrawal (or a safer substitute) for nearly any drug that causes a release of dopamine (cigarettes, alcohol, cocaine, codeine/similar opioids, heroin, etc.) because kratom itself provides a fine (not extreme) release of it. My brother-in-law is a psychiatrist who runs a clinic for heroin addicts (suboxone/buprenorphine/naloxone, I think), and one of his patients told the doc’s wife/nurse that she had previously gotten off heroin rather easily with the use of kratom.
But our brain/body needs a BALANCE of neurotransmitters – not just dopamine. L-tryptophan, for instance, provides a release of serotonin, which we also very much need. Four 500-mg capsules before bedtime lets me sleep like a baby and wake up smiling (instead of waking up crying hard before even opening my eyes, some years ago), and I was thrilled to find that my muscles were willing to move again (I had been so low in serotonin – needed for muscular activity – that I was unable to even move my little finger, and couldn’t even get out of bed to urinate because my legs just couldn’t work, and for absolutely no other reason). Don’t most of you need to sleep deeply and wake up smiling? The L-tryptophan FULLY relieved my very, very deep depression in 1/2 HOUR – all by itself with no other medicines, other drugs, or supplements being used. I had been terribly deficient in serotonin, which our body produces with the help of L-tryptophan and probably some other amino acids. I’m just saying, we might want to balance our amino acids to help build a balance of neurotransmitters – and NOT just focus on dopamine release. I feel MUCH better when I take other amino acids and build a supply of OTHER neurotransmitters, too, while using wonderful kratom. This only makes sense.
IMPORTANT WARNING: If kratom ever starts to make you feel slightly nauseous – as if your liver is a little congested, there may be a solution for you. Unless your kratom was not fresh when you bought it OR you didn’t carefully keep it refrigerated or frozen (see next paragraph), you might be able to take less kratom while still feeling the same good results, by adding what’s called “kratom potentiators” (certain foods & herbs) that increase the potency of the kratom and/or the length of time that it works! Put “Kratom potentiators” in your search bar to find various lists of them (like lemon juice, cayenne, coffee, etc., along with a few cautions). One such caution: One of the potentiators, powdered akuamma seed, is NOT for those with low blood pressure, for it can drop BP quite fast & dangerously, as I personally experienced (terrifying). Only 1/4 tsp of akuamma powder caused me to nearly faint & my neck to wobble badly, when I mixed it with only 1 level teaspoon of red-veined kratom (my usual dose of K.). So, just be careful with akuamma bean or skip it entirely if you tend to have even slightly low blood pressure. But for those with high blood pressure it might be a terrific addition to their kratom, since it is extra-powerfully relaxing (as long as they keep an eye on their BP to make sure it doesn’t drop too much if using both kratom and high BP medicine).
FINAL NOTE: Folks, not every kratom-related website will tell you this (I have studied many at length), but . . . KRATOM SHOULD ALWAYS BE FROZEN OR REFRIGERATED AND KEPT TIGHTLY CAPPED. Where these trees grow naturally, in Southeast Asia, there are certain SPORES in the air, and most kratom probably contains at least a few, but that’s not my warning. IF you purchased FRESH kratom, what few spores it may have will likely remain harmless IF & ONLY IF you freeze or refrigerate your supply. It might not hurt to leave a small jar of it on the counter for daily use, but don’t make the mistake I did. It was fine for several months (house kept air-conditioned nearly always), but when the jar was nearly empty I would refill it – on & on this went for a year. This meant that the stuff in the bottom of the jar had not been refrigerated for a YEAR, and I got quite nauseous one day, to my surprise. I threw out what remained in the little jar, then washed & dried it and its LID very well. Then I could safely fill it from my freezer supply. It never happened again, and that was 2 years ago. In other words, never refill your little jar on the counter or in the cupboard until you have emptied it entirely and then WASHED & DRIED IT, okay?? Better still, always keep in the refrigerator as I learned to do. My sister never did refrigerate hers for a whole year before she tried it for the 1st time. She got so sick from the spores that she refused to ever again try any kratom, even very fresh stuff. A few people with liver problems may find kratom hard to digest, although I’ve only read the tiniest mention of that twice by private commenters online. Reminder: Keep your kratom refrigerated or frozen – one site said it will last indefinitely that way. And if you want to keep a small jar of it handy on your counter, just be doubly sure to empty it ENTIRELY (then wash & dry it) before refilling your jar from your cold or frozen stock.
Sending my love to those struggling with pain & psychological issues in these “critical times, hard to deal with.” You’re not even remotely alone.

  3. Chronic pain, an absolute monster. I’ve been taking K on and off for the last two years, but daily for the past two months and I can’t begin to tell anyone how much better I am. Low back pain from bulging, herniated disks reduced 50-60%. Energy levels increased. More restful sleep. I alternate strains to help maintain efficacy and find Red Vein Bali to be most effective for pain relief, 6-8 grams in the morning mixed with 6 ounces of orange juice. I understand the citric acid helps release the alkaloids. Must, bc the effects are immediate. White Maeng Da early afternoon for sustained energy. All strains are an effective, low grade depression treatment. This herb is truly miraculous.

  4. My parents are alcoholics, get the shakes, sleep paralysis the whole 9 yards, what would you suggest would be the best to switch them onto to curb alcoholism

    1. Red Indo powder, 2 teaspoons morning afternoon and evening. It helped me completely get off norco right away with no side effects. If they start to feel there symptoms come back they can take 1-2 teaspoons every four hours. After they have been on it a few weeks they can take away a half teaspoon at each dose and cut down to a manageable level (2 times a day) or lower until they are taking almost nothing. It worked like a miracle for me with opiate withdrawals

    2. I’m a recovering alcoholic and I’ve tried all strains. My fave is Thai. I would be careful though because Kratom can be pretty addicting itself and some people have pretty bad withdrawals coming off it.

  5. Thanks for this info. I’m hoping to understand all of this. I’m looking for pain relief when even my opioids won’t work. You know those really bad days. Trying to figure out which type to use, from which supplier and how much. It’s overwhelming!! Plus looking for info to help my son who has severe anxiety. I’ve tried Maeng Da but can’t get my dosing right. I did just buy the kit to make my own pills. Not to figure out the amount per pill and convert the dosage to pills. Are the mixed strains better? Is Bali the gold standard for chronic pain? Yes I take opioids.

    1. Red Indo seems to be the most anxiety reducing. Start with a small dose like 1/2 teaspoon once a day. You can shake it into orange juice and have him swallow then follow with another drink of plain orange juice. It works faster than the capsules and you don’t have to take as many (3 capsules)

        1. If I knew about kratom years ago when my opioid addiction started I would have chosen kratom cause no amount of pain pills made it go away unless it was to the point of me nodding off n that means you took too much kratom helps me more than anything

      1. I have found the best method for me taking the powder is with hot/warm coffee. I put the dose in my mouth, take a good amount of coffee then shake my head sideways! I stopped swishing it to mix it because I can’t stand it in my teeth! I take several descent drinks to clean my mouth. Also, Pepsi or coke the works if it’s not super cold. And, I learned not to breath while taking it because sometimes it can be inhaled and it feels like I was dying! I love Kratos because I’m no longer depending on narcotics, amen!

  6. I have addiction problems. But I take 2 500 capsules in the morning. I get a boost, my lower back is unstable. My back doesn’t bother me as much. Never got high or a buzz off Kratom. Done a world of good.

  7. Has anyone used Kratom (if so what kind) to help withdrawal symptoms of Methadone Maintenance?
Also which type of Kratom gives you the effects of a strong opiate?

    1. Hi, Rita. I have just used Red Bali to get off subs. Red Bali is the classic but Red Malay lasts longer apparently. I slept the entire night while detoxing! I cannot believe how amazing it helped. Granted I still had a lot of anxiety and other problems but Red Bali really helped. I’m trying red Malay later today. I started with 3-5grams 4 times a day and now am taking 2-3grams every 12 hours. Good luck!

      1. I am wanting to get off subs myself but I am so afraid I’m going to go into withdrawal. I take 12mg daily, do I need to taper off some before I start the kratom?

  8. When you say from a reputable source, how do you know, especially when you are new to this as I am. I have terrible neck and back issues. Treated at Vanderbilt since I was 12 (now 52). Next option isv a series of surgeries-once I start it could be anywhere from 5-8 over the next 4 years with paralyzation a possibility. I have a very good job with TOP 20 Fortune company and I also work 60-70 hours per week and take care of my 94 yr old dad. I have been on strong opioids-Oxymorphone for years. This, plus other family issues, I have become clinically depressed and almost agoraphobic. I have no energy, even on pain free days to WANT to do anything. I am trying to figure out the best strain or product to help me end this. I can’t go on like this for much longer. Does anyone have advice for strains or other options? Looking into other Nootropics too. Thanks much! Best wishes to you all~

  9. What is the max I can take in one day? Don’t want to damage my liver. Fybro and arthritis.. has me panic, no energy and pain all day with every move.. can hardly make it through the day!! Will I ever have a normal life?

      1. I take 15 grams in the morning, 5grams at 10am, 5grams at 2:00pm, amd 5 grams at 5pm. The last 8 years I have used Kratom instead of Ritalin and Lamictol. Dr’s orders😎👍🏻😎👍🏻

    1. I have Fibromyalgia and Kratum has saved my life. I take reds for pain, and greens for pain and energy. Go to a informative seller and talk with them and they can help.you with a plan. Its helped me get off pain pills and get my life back.

    2. Fibro + arthritis = Lyme disease.
Get the test from DNA Connexions and see that I’m right.

The test your doctor gives is not accurate at all.

      1. I’m a nurse of 26+ years and I have been sick since walking through a tick nest in 2007. Didn’t figure it out until getting worse in 2016 after living in a house with mold. Doctors blamed my gastric bypass weight loss surgery for my issues. Until recently I thought they were crazy but now I’m thinking they were partly right. Lyme is thought to affect the thyroid gland but there’s other glands that I am beginning to think might be the cause of many different illnesses & pain! There’s an illness, Hyperparathyroidism, affecting the parathyroid glands. The glands get benign adenomas and start pulling Calicium from the bones causing bone pain, fatigue, kidney stones, gallstones, Bi-polar disorder, depression & anxiety. Much of the same symptoms as chronic fatigue, Mold illness and I have seen many say fibromyalgia is 100% this endocrine illness/disease!…way too many symptoms to list! Many have low vitamin D & high Calcium but not always. There’s Primary & Secondary, both thought to be rare but I’m thinking not so rare! When I began researching this I found out that almost all people who have Gastric Bypass Weight Loss Surgery end up with Secondary. Iodine exposure was another cause of secondary that I read. I am beginning to wonder if this is rare at all and if it’s possible this disorder of these glands could be what we think is Lyme and several other illnesses that do not seem to have a cause. If not found and treated it can make you extremely sick but if you are diagnosed with Primary, usually the cysts can be removed and the cure rate is 95%. I have read that for some illness symptoms are gone within 24 hours of a 15 minute outpatient surgery, even symptoms of bi-polar disorder. Just like fibro & lyme, it’s hard to get doctors to listen but there’s a couple of Facebook groups and the website I’m sharing here that can help get you headed down the right path if you think this might be something your dealing with. Hey, you can always order your own labs needed and don’t need a doctor! If labs come back with a high Calcium and/or high PTH (parathyroid hormone), I’d bet they’d be more willing to listen. I pray this is my illness because at least I got a chance to get better. 95% is pretty good damn odds to getting better from the unknown! This is much more complicated than I could explain so if interested. Check out Facebook and this site. The symptoms are so many this site can’t name them all! Good luck to us all!

    3. I have similar problems. Fibro & arthritis. Also, I have PTSD, depression and anxiety. I want to get off of any and all prescriptions if possible. I need pain relief, energy during the day & anxiety relief. Help to get on a regular sleep schedule would be great as well. I don’t want to feel like my head is swimming or too dizzy. Also don’t want to feel jittery to get the energy if that’s possible. In other words, I want a new drug, lol! Any suggestions with these things in mind? Thanks! I will also post this as an individual post as opposed to a reply to another person’s post so if you see this same one, you know why.

  10. I just got my Keaton in the mail I took 1 cap and Nothing 2 caps and nothing I have Severe pain how much is in a capsule? I want to try it but I don’t know HOW much more?? I would say more but after my Aneurism I can’t spell or talk anymore Thank You …

    1. It depends on if it’s just the powder or the extract. I’ve been making my own pills with the powder and I have to take 18 pills (.5g per pill) equal to 9g to get to a dose that I can feel. I have yet to get into the extract but that’s my next step. I have had surgery on my spine and foot with a lot of pain staying constant 4 years after my surgeries. This helps them like I’m 20 again. No pain and no stiffness. I would say start low and gradually increase to where you can feel the effects. It might seem like a waste at first but at least you won’t overdose. I take 9gs 3 times a day.

      1. Hi Nic..i can definitely relate. I have been using Kratom about 1 1/2 years for chronic 24/7 severe pain & also have to take a large dose to help…probably, 3 tsp 3-4 times a day….i don’t believe it’s my right to take my own life & would never attempt, but with all the issues I’ve dealt with the last 4 1/2 years…it would be a blessing to unintentionally go to sleep & wake up in Christ & my Mom’s presence….😴 🤗😅🙏. I alone & most friends & family have mostly deserted me…( Don’t get ill !….when you’re no longer fun & have problems…even people you’ve always been close to, don’t want to deal)…ill never understand that??…so I’m very lonely, which causes severe mental problems & even more of a different pain, which is also horrendous….& Now with the complete insanity going on in the world I thought I knew…..borrowing the words of my Love, Leon Russel, I am totally alone & “A Stranger In A Strange Land.”…i Really want Off!…but will be when God decides.
Long time Chronic pain is not understood by Anyone…including doctors!, who hasn’t had to personally deal with it. I know I didn’t!…its especially when you have no hope of things getting better….my faith in God is my Only spark of light I see at the top of the slimy, steep walls of the pit of depression I have…So I try to keep my eye on that, hoping for a rope to be lowered to me.
I didn’t intend on going into all this here, but hoping that it might bring comfort to others who are in similar states & can know, they’re not alone…or going crazy…( Well, maybe a little…..) My ❤ & Prayers are with you All!!
Like I mentioned, I kind of got off track…you tend to do that when you’re in solitary confinement & don’t see or speak to another human for weeks at a time….
But, Nic…You mentioned how much you were using….but don’t think you said what strain & color is working best for you?? I’ve tried All & usually my own mixture, to hit all my issues. Also, would like to know if you’ve found a brand that is Good?! Been just buying locally…but w at to try some online companies, which I’ve no doubt are better.
Just one more point for All….ive tried everything the, so called pain clinic has liberally thrown at me…even had to supplement with what was available on the street, because I might as well take an aspirin compared to what they’d prescribe. But was at my vapor/ head shop getting CDB liquid & they asked if I’d ever tried Kratom?….never heard of it. They gave me some caps of Maeng Da to try, I was leary, so I opened 1 & put 1/2 on my toung…1/2 hour later thought i’d gone to heaven!…or prayers were answered finally!…Not only was my pain less than when on anything else, (except IV drop of Morphine in hospital)…but I had hope, my life long depression was better than any anti- depressants, & had taken them All….And thought there’s no way this will last?…its too good. So my point is, I’ve cut all other meds down to 1/3 or less because of Kratom!
My main fear is that, as I’m sure you know…just like the vapor industry….the tobacco companies, big pharm, Gov….All want they’re hands on it…they’re losing money from people stopping to smoke…Not using big pharm’s made from under the kitchen sink chemicals. & people not dying from smoking, etc not needing them & the Gov wanting to control, alter & make mony from it….They All Know How Good It Is!!!…im talking about both vapor & Kratom So they are constantly trying to shut them down, only to re-open under they’re control…just like with pot…Suddenly, being a Pot-Head is a good thing!..Just Say Yes!!
And If you don’t know….You can Thank President Trump for vapor companies still being in business & are supplying so many families with steady income, because they’re on Every corner!….little Mom & Pop businesses that keep this Countries economy moving. Because in Aug of 2018…..All the vapor shops were being forced to close due to ridiculous false claims of harm from vaping against them… but President Trump signed a law, saying , basically…You have 5 years to prove your accusations against this & these businesses will remain Open! I know people who had sunk every penny they had into a shop & had no idea how they were going to survive….i.went in that day…They were celebrating like Christmas!!
These, what I consider Evil, Greedy entities are constantly trying to do the same with Kratom.
So Please support anything, groups/ organizations…sign petitions, write your Law makers to help these substances that God! made or has His hand in , Safe, Legal & available in the free market, instead of as i said, that come from substances, like for cleaning, that are under your sink!…..controlled/ unrecognizably altered or banned completely, simply because of Evil & Greed!,….Sounds extreme…but absolute Truth .Available for people like me & maybe you, who couldn’t have any kind of life without. Not to mention the jobs created! You can easily find out how to find out how to help by searching the internet.
Sorry to go on & get completely off my original comment/ question.
I Really would like to hear from Nic & anyone else which strain & or form of Kratom works best for you…especially would like to know If & what extracts are good?
Thank You for your time! Take Care…
        Barbara 🌙

        1. Very well stated. I have Fibro & arthritis. Depression, PTSD & high anxiety. I want off the prescription meds. I believe I have what they call “Hyperhydrosis” due to certain meds. Adding that (getting extremely overheated & sweaty very easily & very often), to the symptoms of the Fibro, arthritis, PTSD, depression & anxiety, makes living a relatively “normal” life seem nearly impossible. I have just had a special man come into my life & he has a lot of energy to get out & do different things. I want to be able to keep up to some extent without all of the pain, etc & then needing an entire day after any real activity outside of the home to “recover” & feeling extreme lethargy & exhaustion. I think Kratom may be the answer to all of this from what I’ve read about it on various websites & here. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I live in Washington state where it is available in some shops in my area. Thank you Barbara for your thoughts & statements. I agree completely with the vape & Kratom things you talked about. We have to try to keep it available at a reasonable price & legal too. Thanks to anyone who has any suggestions/advice! Take care all!

        2. Hi Barbara! Your post stood out to me. I can totally relate to everything you said!! Do you have Facebook or a way to contact you? I’m on Facebook. My name is Sandra Polette in Elgin, OK.
God bless and remember, God’s grace is sufficient for YOU!
          ♡ Sandy

      2. Barbara, I probably could have wrote the same thing you just did but you said it for me. I feel your situation completely. I have been taking Kratom every day for 2 years now and I don’t know what I would have done without it. Everything you said is what I’m going through now. On top of that I moved from Chicago to WEST VIRGINIA!!!! Double depressing….my husband retired here on property we bought but I hate it. Anyway, I’m not going into my story except don’t feel alone…..there are many of us out there. I only recently have been developing MS symptoms….I increased my dose since the beginning and now I depend on it…..😳

    2. Hello best dose for me 4 or 5 grams. I’m 6’3″ 275 lbs. I have severe diabetic neuropathy and spinal fusion surgery. I think body fat/weight has a lot to do with dosage. I take 3 gs in the morning for energy and 5 gs at night for pain and anxiety.

    3. There’s only 500mgs in a capsule. From what I’ve read, if you don’t have a tolerance for opiates, taking 6mgs (12 capsules) is about right. If you’re like me and have somewhat of a tolerance for opiates, you need to take more. I didn’t read an amount that’s recommended in that case, but I’m guessing no one wants to be responsible for someone taking to many and something happening to them. I’ll be honest, I take 25 of them at a time. The powder is better because I get the capsules stuck in my throat every single time I take them so the powder is easier. And makes me feel like less of a serious pill pooper. But it helps so much that I take that many and have yet to have any side affects. I hope this helps you

      1. You’re not the only one Miranda. I’ve struggled with opiates on an off for the last 8 years. OD’d 3 times in 4 months in heroin and am lucky to still be walking this earth. It’s crazy how something can kill you (literally) and all you can think about is using again. Kratom saved my life. I take 15g doses 3 times a day. Usually a mix of Bali gold and red maeng da. A year and a half later I still get craving to use heroin and when that happens I’ve taken 30g doses. Everyone is different, the great thing about kratom is you can’t od from it. The worse that can happen is you get nauseous and puke. I’ve noticed that if you consistently switch strains even taking higher doses you still get a good effect. You don’t build tolerance to kratom itself but the strains yes, because they all have different amount of alkaloids.

    4. Buddy, I just got some from a friend, I googled it ok it says 1-3 teaspoons. But it also says you need 2 FIND your own dose that works. I just put 2 grams in my sleepy time tea. & I feel like it’s really helping my anxiety & hopefully major syatic & lower back pain. I weighed it out on my scale at 2.00. Set on grams. I am far from a pro but I think that’s 2 grams. Now I just need 2 no how long it holds for. Meaning 3-4 hours or 4-6 hours etc. Hopefully it’s a much better quality of life taken Heaton than opiates.

    5. I have severe pain and take 8-10 capsules three times a day until I can cut down. Drink loads of water but one or two capsules won’t do anything. There is hope!!!

      1. The powder kratom works way better n faster or u can poke some holes in the capsule and it will work lil bit quicker I suggest you order powder and mix it in juice and see what u think

  11. I have Fibromyalgia and arthritis. I’m in horrible pain constantly. I have no life. Hearing of this was a Godsend but can’t find anyone who will ship to Indiana.😕

    1. I would buy you some & ship it to you girl. We don’t know each other but we both suffer with fibromyalgia. If you’re still in need contact me. 707-572-7990 or [email protected] honestly Kratom has saved my life. I couldn’t imagine not being able to get any when I need it & literally nothing else works to ease the pain. In the meantime try making yourself some Thyme tea. Just get some Thyme the spice & add it to your favorite flavor of tea. It really does help when you have nothing else. God bless & good luck. Don’t hesitate to contact me.

      1. Ciara what does level have you found relief. I have fibro, RA and nerve damage from surgery…. just not sure where to start

      1. I have to take about 80 to 100 capsules to get any affect. Then I can gp about my day like a normal person. I think there’s something wrong with my tolerance to pain meds.

        1. You just have a high tolerance bro. My minimum dose is 15g (30 caps) and I’ve taken 30g doses regularly (60 caps) some of us are just extremely tolerant to drugs.

    2. There is a shop in metropolis Illinois she is a godsend and she does free shipping incredibly knowledgeable and extremely good prices.
